Preparing A Home
Below are some tips that can help you ensure your home is at its best for a shooting session!
Preparing the inside of the home
When Possible We Recommend You Do The Following:
General Cleaning
- Remove clutter from tables, bookshelves, bedrooms, bathrooms and any place where photos will be taken.
- Remove personal items and items with sensitive information such as:
Family photos, notes, calendars, mail, medications & valuables - Conceal garbage and recycle bins
- Wipe windows and remove dust from frames
- Hide pet items such as: food bowls, beds, crates, toys, etc…
Lighting Setting
- Open all blinds & remove window coverings to let natural light in
- Turn on all lights (including lamps & under-cabinet lights)
- Replace burned-out light bulbs (with matching color temperature when possible)
Kitchen and Dining
- Clean countertops and remove items such as:
Small appliances, utensils, dish racks, paper towels - Remove magnets, photos, papers & notes from fridge
- Put away dish soap, sponges & cleaning supplies
Bathrooms
- Clean counters and remove personal items such as:
Toothbrushes, razors, lotions, shampoos - Lower toilet lids
- Put out clean, matching towels
Preparing the outside of the home
When Possible We Recommend You Do The Following:
Remove and Conceal
- Conceal trash, yard waste & recylcle bins.
- Remove or coil garden hoses neatly
- Conceal gardening tools such as: rakes, shovels, lawnmowers, etc…
- Remove kid’s toys, sports equipment & pet toys from yard
- Remove pet feces (photographer may walk around yard)
Driveway & Curb Appeal
- Move vehicles out of driveway and away from the front of propierty
- Park away from the front of the home if possible (helps keep street view clean)
Yard & Landscaping
- Mow grass and edge along sidewalks and driveways
- Rake and remove leaves & debris
- Sweep or blow walkways, patios, decks, and driveway
House Exterior
- Close garage doors and gates
- Open patio umbrellas if in good condition otherwise store them.
- Arrange patio furniture neatly
- Remove pool covers and store them out of sight
- Clean windows and glass doors is possible
